I haven't updated on my mom in a while. She was diagnosed in February with stage 4 renal cell carcinoma. She's had a lot of appointments recently, due to having several pulmonary embolisms and her continued aggressive treatment for the tumors. She is on a lot of medications to treat the cancer - immunotherapy, chemotherapy, blood thinners to combat the blood clots the chemo is causing, injections to make her bones stronger where the tumors have broken them, calcium supplements to prevent deficiencies the injections cause, pain medication and anxiety medication to help with the overwhelm of it all. She is feeling a little stronger, her appetite has finally returned and she gained back a pound! We have been spending a lot of time at the cancer center recently and will continue to do so over the next few weeks. I'm so glad both Lu & Ed, and my new job as a marketing strategist, allow me the time & space to commit to caring for her, from taking her to appointments to tidying her home to just sitting with her when I can.
